one day i'll write things out properly but for now at least some shit should probably live on my journal and not just on onenote
was a sergeant before assaulting his CO in 2545, whereupon he was immediately demoted to corporal and taken off duty while awaiting court martial. this was when he was approached by project freelancer, readily signing on as per "washed hands" in the book.
epsilon: exactly how much wash retained from epsilon is pretty vague in-series, but i tend to assume that he basically gets the whole damn kit and caboodle, just because it's a hell lot more fun for me in terms of the amount of shit he has to deal with. and also less fun for wash, but that's why it's more fun for me, anyway. this basically includes church's entire baggage.
eidetic memory: near-photographic memory as a side effect of epsilon's implantation. things from before freelancer can be recalled, but more vaguely. it really is not perfect and there are occasionally glitches or gaps. more accurately, sometimes even though he's remembered something he is unable to quite exactly recall or retrieve it the way he wants. he also occasionally simply remembers the wrong thing in place of whatever information he was actually looking for. this can sometimes be Bad.
ptsd: being through a lot of traumatic shit on top of having perfect memory is really bad juju. while he's able to control his tendencies to lapse into memory most of the time, there are times when something is able to trigger or set him off without warning. most consistently, since he's not exactly able to consciously control his thoughts in sleep, wash spends every night spinning the roulette of "which extremely shitty part of my life do i get to vividly relive this time", and boy, there's some really bad shit there. he handles this mostly by sleeping as little as possible.
headcanon bullshit
