Thank you again for all your help, Trixx seems to be settling very well.
Would you like to come by for a visit? I recall offering to expand your culinary horizons, if you're still interested. Just let me know if there's anything you specifically don't like.
I stopped by and knocked on your door until the woman across the hall came out and asked me to leave, but since I can't come up with any reason for you to ignore me I'm assuming you are either dead or in a coma in there.
...you had better not be dead.
I'm withholding bunny photos until I know for certain which is the case.
[ a week or so later, after the next orientation ]
...your floormate really does not like me, now. But she did confirm that she hasn't seen you at all so I guess you're in a coma which definitely isn't your fault.
Here you go.
[ Attached are several extremely cute photos of Trixx, most of them in the designated bunny area in the spare room that Wash helped Kazu set up. Two of them include Val, who looks utterly besotted with their tiny fluffball of a pet. ]
I am not a patient man, but it also occurred to me that it'd be pretty depressing to wake up and feel like people had forgotten about you. So I'm going to keep sending messages.
If this is super annoying when you finally see them, I'm not going to apologize. Don't go into a coma again, I guess.
[ There's another bunny photo attached so this isn't just him being a pain in the ass. ]
[ every monday afterwards until arrivals on june 20th ]
[ Without fail, Kazu continues sending Wash texts and photos on Mondays. If he saves them to scroll through in order, he'll be able to watch the bunny growing -- the messages attached are brief, just commenting on her favorite toys or how she's socializing with guests or the things they're trying to teach her. One day there's a video of her hopping up pet steps to sit on the couch next to Val.
[ wash doesn't immediately respond on waking up, because he had other things to take care of: but also, because. this was a lot. so much. the rabbit pictures help to weigh the scale down more on the "endearing" side of things, but it is still kind of alarming to someone like wash, who still doesn't think of kazu as someone he knows particularly well or anything.
this series of messages probably gives him a good idea what kind of guy he is, though.
he gets around to responding after he's spent a couple of days just -- pulling himself together. ]
Trixx looks like she's growing up well.
[ yep that's it he'll wait for you to expend your energy a bit on a reply before he gets into it ok ]
It didn't keep me up at night or anything, these comas apparently happen all the time. But yes, I had some concerns. Especially surrounding how long it lasted.
Agreed. My worry was just more directed towards how you'd handle waking up. Two months of lost time is significant, especially in a place where the state of things and people changes so quickly.
And I know what it's like to be gone and feel like at best no one cares. You'd never mentioned any other friends or partners, so I didn't want you to wake up thinking that.
Worrying about whether or not they'd wake up feeling alone is more than most people would afford a relative stranger.
I'm not complaining. You'd know if I was.
[ he is, if nothing else, pretty good at setting boundaries. and maybe if it'd been more frequent than once a week he might have drawn a line, but kazu struck a good enough balance between "wow this is a lot" and "TOO MUCH". ]
[ a series of texts over the two months wash is unconscious ]

My name is Kazu, I am a friend. Even if you don't remember me right now please respond to this in some way so I know that you're alive.

On the 20th, his text just says: ]
Please wake up.
[ june 21st ]
If you don't like it I guess you should've been around to tell me to mind my own business, people in comas don't get votes.
But if you do like it then wake the fuck up and meet him.
His name is Sugar.
Trixx updates will resume as usual on Monday, but this is getting ridiculous.

Are you alright? You were out a long time.

I appreciate all the concern, Kazu.
[ though it's... it's a lot. there was a lot of concern ]

...honestly, I was prepared for you to be unhappy.

All of this?

You would not be the first to tell me to back off.

That's not an invitation.

But my offers still stand.

You were really worried about me, huh?

Anyone who I know isn't a total asshole, anyway.
It's not like sending a message once a week was any sort of burden, especially considering you'd recently done me a significant favor.

If I ever do bother you, please just tell me immediately? Pursuing friendships is kind of new and I'm learning that I don't pick up hints very well.

If you do something I don't like I won't be shy about telling you.
So this is pursuing friendship? You know I'm not great at that, either.
