Kurt and I and our fellow team members were once taken by a cosmic being known as the Beyonder, then placed onto a planet he called 'Battleworld' to fight amongst other Earth inhabitants of various allegiances. I think it was a morality test.
We have also come into semi-regular contact with a being known as Mojo, whose dimension treats our lives as if we are entertainment for their consumption. He likes to put us through various, violent situations that end through circumstance or our own wit.
I suppose what I am saying is, anything is possible. Either the one in charge here finds it funny, or they really do believe in some strange gene. It isn't the the only gene of interest in me, if that were the case.
The stories I hear from your world only seem to get wilder and wilder.
[ and he wouldn't believe them, except that he's been here long enough and heard and seen enough to know that the simplest explanation is that they're all just true. the mention of the strange gene has him pausing -- he remembers when ororo explained about being a mutant, from her world, what that means. maybe. ]
I guess this place isn't too new for you, then? Less violent, usually at least. More sex. Same flavor of someone sticking you somewhere you didn't want to be. Though I guess one of those was a planet, and the other was a whole dimension?
[ cosmic beings is harder for wash to grasp, but its not like he can't imagine some rich megalomaniac turning an uninhabited planet into a battleworld. ]
Less violent and a little more sex, yes. It is a much longer stay as well. Typically it does not take us very long at all to get back home. The longest I have personally been away from our own Earth or home dimension is about a year.
I know our experiences are unique, however. We just lead very colorful lives. In some ways, Duplicity is rather slow for us.
Someone I looked to as a sort of mentor - he became briefly, romantically involved with the Empress of the Shi'Ar Imperium quite a while ago. I'd argue that we've had dealings with them since that time.
My ex-husband's people had also started their own empire in another corner of the cosmos. That one is a very long story - but we see each other now and again during galactic matters. [ They're very professional about it, it's fine. ]
But when I took the Arakki seat and sought to be a voice for the system, things became a little more formal, you could say.

[ wash wouldn't, but he's quite aware that's from an old soldier who even after all these years still hasn't quite learned to be not-at-war. ]
Those other empires you mentioned. Did you have any dealings with them? Did Earth, or Arakko?
