History The following timeline is a blend of known RvB canon information, Halo canon information, and headcanon, and is by no means definitive. It is only indicative of my defaults for Wash, and when playing with other RvBs especially in games I'm happy to all hold hands and figure out our way through the mess of our dumb canon together. God knows that Rooster Teeth's own "definitive timeline" stuff isn't particularly helpful.
Pre-War to Project Freelancer
2519
David Holloway is born on Leonis Minoris III.
2524
First Contact between humanity and the alien Covenant occurs as the unmanned interstellar freighter Horn of Plenty experiences a slipspace drive malfunction. The ship is ejected from slipspace near the Covenant ship Minor Transgression, and is subsequently raided, with the damage assumed to be the result of an insurrectionist attack.
2525
The Human-Covenant War begins as conflicts continue to escalate and all negotiation attempts fail. The first major site of conflict, Harvest, is partially glassed, while Green Hills and Second Base are completely glassed by the Covenant.

The SPARTAN-II Program, initially created to counteract insurrectionist forces, finds new purpose. Of the 75 children conscripted into the program, 33 surviving candidates who were not killed, paralyzed or otherwise disabled by the augmentation process enter battle against the Covenant.
2529
Allison Church is KIA in the Human-Covenant War.
2535
SPARTAN-II combatants are effective and feared by the Covenant, but the UNSC is unable to push back the greater tide. By 2535, almost all of UEG's Outer Colonies have been glassed and destroyed. The Cole Protocol is implemented by the UNSC in an attempt to prevent the Covenant from discovering the location of inner colonies, but especially Earth.

Leonard Church receives his doctorate in AI theory.
2537
David Holloway enlists into the UNSC Marine Corps at the age of 18.

The Battle of Leonis Minoris results in the glassing of Leonis Minoris II and III, with the UNSC effectively sacrificing the two colonies in order to protect Leonis Minoris I. Of David's family, two of his three sisters were reportedly safely evacuated.
2544
ONI and the UNSC continue searching for the magic bullet to win them the war as the SPARTAN-IIs alone prove insufficient. Special operations program and experimental research initiative Project Freelancer is cleared for funding, with Dr. Leonard Church serving as Director, aiming to explore use of combat assistant AI.
2546
Project Freelancer receives the UNSC Smart AI designated "Alpha" for Project Freelancer.

At 27, Sgt. David Holloway is demoted to Corporal and temporarily removed from active duty after an altercation with a CO, injuring his Staff Sergeant. When questioned, he defends his actions as saving a platoon from being sent to certain death. Scheduled to face court-martial, David instead signs onto Project Freelancer after consultation with the program's Counselor, and is assigned the codename Agent Washington.
2547
After continued failures to acquire additional AI units, Dir. Leonard Church observes that the Alpha AI spontaneously created a standalone AI fragment, designated "Beta". He theorizes a process through which additional fragments could be created and harvested for use in Project Freelancer.

Beta is installed into a set of Freelancer HEPHAESTUS Armor, with her origins obfuscated to all agents, including herself. She begins working as an active-duty Freelancer agent, codenamed Agent Texas.
2548
During a Project Freelancer intelligence operation, Agents North and South Dakota successfully retrieve intel from the Bjorndal Cryogenics Facility that the facility's organization, Charon Industries, is in the possession of an extrmely high-value asset codenamed the Sarcophagus.

The Sarcophagus is successfully retrieved by Freelancer agents from an Insurrectionist facility. During the heist, Agent Maine is shot in the throat by an enemy sniper. He survives, but loses the ability to speak.
2549
The UNSC Oversight Subcomittee is established to oversee unique projects like Freelancer, in an attempt to exercise some control over ONI. Freelancer begins work assigning and implanting their agents with combat assistant smart AI, beginning with the pairing of Agent Texas with the AI Omega.

Freelancer simulation outpost Desert Gulch, located on Armada-8, has one of their Red team sim troopers KIA during a training mission for Agent Carolina and Agent Texas. Considered a success, Dir. Church notes the composition of Desert Gulch as a model for future Freelancer outposts.

Agent Carolina is scheduled to receive the AI unit Sigma, but relinqushes it to Maine in order to help him communicate with his team. More Freelancers are paired with and subsequent AI units: Agent York with Delta, Agent North Dakota with Theta, Agent Wyoming with Gamma, and eventually Carolina with both Eta and Iota, after she insisted on taking on two AI units.
2550
During an operation targeting a supposed Insurrectionist ship named Staff of Charon, Agent Conneticut defects from Freelancer after having discovered incriminating data about the Proejct's dealings.

Agent Washington is implanted with his assigned combat AI, Epsilon. The procedure fails catstrophically as Epsilon attempts to terminate itself while implanted. Washington's mental state is severely impacted and he is sedated in order to stabilize and subdue him. All future AI implantation procedures are put on indefinite hold as a result of the incident.

Agent Texas learns the truth about her origins as an AI fragment from Conneticut, and follows suit in going rogue soon after. Texas leads an attack on the Project Freelancer ship, the UNSC Mother of Invention, which crashes on the planet Sidewinder.

Agent Maine is overwhelmed by Sigma, takes advantage of the events to obtain Eta and Iota from Agent Carolina. Agents Maine, Carolina and Texas are all declared MIA. Carolina forges documents to reenlist in the UNSC under the name "McCallister".

The SPARTAN-II Program is revealed by ONI and the UNSC to the general public in a bid to increase morale as the Human-Covenant War continues. The true origins of the program remain obfuscated and classified.
2551
The Chairperson of the UNSC Oversight Subcomitee resigns admist a political scandal. Charon Industries CEO and assistant to the former Chairperson, Malcolm Hargrove, is appointed as the new Chairman.

Agent York departs from Freelancer, stealing his armor and his AI fragment, Delta.

Recollections Trilogy
2551
Agent Florida is charged with the safekeeping of the Alpha AI. The simulation outpost Blood Gulch is created following the pattern established by Desert Gulch, and Alpha is installed there and told that he is a human UNSC soldier, Pvt. Leonard Church. Many, many shenanigans occur, and Florida is eventually killed due to an aspirin overdose.
2552
Major UEG colonies Reach, New Jerusalem and Coral are glassed by the Covenant, with Tribute and Earth itself being partially glassed. Master Chief John-117 successfully destroys Installation-04, and ten thousand other things that eventually culminate in the Treaty of 2552 and the end to the Human-Covenant War.

Following years of interrogation and vetting, Agent Washington is declared mentally stable and cleared for field work. Considered a low-risk for AI theft due to the Epsilon Incident, he is assigned the codename Recovery One and given the objective of tracking down and retrieving Freelancer assets from rogue and deceased operatives.
2553
Agent York, Agent Wyoming, and Agent North Dakota are all KIA. Washington attempts to recover Project Freelancer's assets from their bodies but finds that they have all already been taken, and concludes that former Agent Maine, now the Meta, is killing former agents to collect their AI units. During his pursuit of the Meta, Washington encounters Agent South Dakota, AKA Recovery Two, and attempts to work with her. She betrays him, stealing Delta and leaving him for dead at the hands of the Meta.

On Treaty of 2552 is ratified in February, and on March 3rd, 2553, a formal ceremony is held to declare the official end of the Human-Covenant War.

Meanwhile, in Blood Gulch, Pvt. Lavernius Tucker is impregnanted with the first human-alien hybrid baby. Yes, really. Following the end of the war, Blood Gulch sim troopers are reassigned to various locations, and Tucker and his son Blarggity "Junior" Blarg-Tucker become ambassadors for human-alien relations.
2554
Agent Washington, who survived his altercation with the Meta thanks to the healing unit he'd recovered from Agent York's body, is once again cleared for duty. He is given a new bjective to hunt down the Meta and retrieve all Freelancer AI units. He makes contact with the Reds and Blues of Blood Gulch and enlists their assistance, and when re-encountering Agent South Dakota, kills her. In a remarkable display of sanity and stability, he destroys her body about five different times. In official records, South Dakota is reportedly killed by the Meta.

After revealing to Pvt. Leonard Church his true nature as the Alpha AI, Washington persuades him to stay behind and help to set off an EMP blast in the Freelancer command facility in a bid to strike back against Project Freelancer as well as incapacitate the approaching Meta. This results in the destruction of Beta, Delta, Theta, Gamma, Iota, Eta, Omega, and the Alpha himself, and Washington sustains an injury from the Meta. The Epsilon AI survives, under the care of the Reds and Blues.

Washington's actions result in exposing the crimes of Project Freelancer, eventually leading to the arrest of Dir. Leonard Church as well as the Project Counselor, Aiden Price. Washington is also arrested by the UNSC for destruction of classified UNSC property, imprisoned in a UNSC Maximum Security Detention Facility as Prisoner 619-B.
2555
Agent Washington is released from UNSC custody after striking a deal with the Chairman, commuting his sentence in exchange for the retrieval of Epsilon from the Reds and Blues. He is partnered with the Meta for this objective, who has been suffering from a kind of "AI withdrawal" since the fragments he collected were lost in the EMP. This basically results in a full season of Wash and Maine playing bad cop/even worse cop.

Epsilon is reactivated by the Reds and Blues, and refragments itself, creating Epsilon-Church and Epsilon-Tex. Washington and the Meta hunt them down for retrieval, but when the Meta betrays his partner to reobtain AI units for himself, Washington works with the Reds and Blues to save Epsilon. The Meta, AKA Agent Maine, is killed.

Washington prepares to go on the run, knowing that he has failed his mission. The Blues take him in. Officially, Agent Washington is reported as KIA alongside Agent Maine, and the new Blue team reports that he died heroically.

Chorus Trilogy
2556
Agent Carolina re-emerges from hiding, managing to track down Washington and the Reds and Blues. She joins them to retrieve Epsilon and as she hunts down Dr. Leonard Church, who has managed to evade arrest by going into hiding.

Charon Industries hires pirate mercenary and former UNSC soldier Locus to retrieve the Meta's HEPHAESTUS armor from where Agent Maine was killed. Charon also rediscovers a forgotten Outer Colony, Chorus, home to a high concentration of forgotten alien technology and artifacts. To gain access these valuable assets without too much hassle against the local population, Charon sends Locus and his partner Felix to manipulate them into a civil war.
2557
Carolina, Washington and Epsilon successfully track down the whereabouts of Dr. Leonard Church, discovering him in a Freelancer Offsite Storage Facility. Carolina confronts Dr. Church directly. She leaves him a gun, which he uses to kill himself after ordering the facility AI to execute the deletion of all remaining Freelancer files and data except for a video of the late Allison Church.

In a bit for positive post-war propaganda, the UNSC lauds the Reds and Blues, as well as former agents Washington and Carolina, as heroes for their takedown of Project Freelancer and the Director. They are to be sent back to Blood Gulch to live their lives, however the UNSC ends up losing contact with their transport, the UNSC Hand of Merope. The ship crash lands on Chorus after being pulled out of the sky by Charon operatives using local alien technology.

THE ENTIRE CHORUS ARC THEN GOES HERE, WHICH IS NUTS.

Post-Chorus, newly elected president of Chorus Vanessa Kimball sends the Reds and Blues, along with Washington and Carolina, to the planets' unihabited moon of Iris to live out a peaceful retirement.

And somewhere during that retirement, Washington is interdimensionally kidnapped for roleplay shenanigans.
